Two gradient-basedoptimization schemes were investigated for continuous wave near infrared opticaltomography. The reason of slow convergence rate and low spatial resolution for conventionaloptimization schemes was analyzed. A spatial location weighted gradient-based optimizationscheme was adopted to reduce the computation burden and increase the reconstructionprecision. The reconstruction results confirm that the spatial location weightedoptimization method offers a more efficient approach to the continuous wave opticalimaging problem than conventional methods..

An image fusion method was proposed based on the filter banks for merging a high-resolution panchromatic image with a low-resolution multispectral image. The panchromatic image was first decomposed into sub-images by using analysis filters and then the low-frequency sub-image of the panchromatic image was directly substituted by the multispectral image to merge a high-resolution panchromatic image with a low-resolution multispectral image. Finally, the fused image was reconstructed by using the synthesis filters. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach can obtain the better trade-off between the spectral information of low- resolution multispectral sensor and the spatial properties of high-resolution panchromatic sensor by adjusting the channel number..

Radiation effects of 1MeV electron on middle wavelength Hg 1-xCd xTe photoconductive detectors were studied. Room and liquid nitrogen temperatures resistance, response spectrum, current responsivity and detectivity were measured before and after irradiation. It is observed that after irradiation, the detectors’ peak and cutoff wavelength move towards short wavelength; the room temperature resistance and current responsivity become decreasing when irradiation dosage is larger than 10 15/cm 2; the detectivity doesn’t show a monotonical change owing to the influnce of noise..

Crystalline ZnO nano-particles were synthesized on Si substrate with and without Au catalyst through chemical vapor deposition(CVD) method with ZnS as the source material for the first time. The growth morphology of ZnO particles is strongly affected by the flow rate, the temperature of the Si substrate and the catalyst. Without Au catalyst, the nano-particles are round in shape with the average sizes in the range of 30-200nm and the density of 10 4-10 9cm -2. In the presence of Au catalyst, ZnO particles grow into hexagonal shape. The average particle sizes are smaller, in the range of 10-100nm, while the particle density becomes larger, in the order of 10

(x=0.52) amorphous thin films on vitreous silica substrates by RF magnetron sputtering were investigated by UV~VIS~NIR transmittance measurement in the wavelength range of 200~1100nm. Meanwhile, based on the structure of thin films on the transparent substrate and the transmittance relations of multilayer structure, the fitting method with six fitting parameters was developed to calculate the optical constants. The optical constants of thin films in the wide wavelength range and the film thickness were obtained simultaneously. The maximum values of the refractive index and extinction coefficient are 2.68 and 0.562, respectively. The film thickness by the fitting is 318.1nm. According to Tauc′s law, the direct band gap of the PZT amorphous thin film is found to be 3.75eV. Finally, the dispersion relation of the refractive index of the thin films is successfully interpreted by considering a single-oscillator model..

The original image was properly divided into unoverlapped blocks according to the small change of texture in local areas of the remote senses image, each of which associated with a uniform texture. Then texture feature of each block was formed by calculating the mean and variance of Gabor filtered image. Rotation normalization was realized by circular shift of the feature elements to get the invariant texture feature vector. The classification of image blocks was also completed by using a simple unsupervised clustering algorithm. The experiments of the real images show that the method is effective..

The material growth, device fabrication and performance of integrated MW1/MW2 two-color HgCdTe infrared detector was reported. A four-layer p-p-P-N hetero-junction Hg 1-xCd xTe film was grown in-situ by molecular beam epitaxy technology. The preliminary eighty unit cells two-color HgCdTe infrared detector was obtained by B +-implantation, mesa etching, side-wall metallization, side-wall passivation and hybridization. The independent electrical assess to each of two spatially collated back-to-back HgCdTe photodiodes allows the photocurrents of shorter and longer wavelength to be separated, and ensures the spatial uniformity and temporal simultaneity. It was operated in the backside-illuminated mode with infrared radiation incidence on the substrate surface, and with large fill-factor. At liquid nitrogen temperature, the cut-off wavelengths of the two bands are 3.04μm and 5.74μm individually, the zero-bias dynamic resistance (R 0A) products of them are 3.852×10 5Ωcm 2and 3.015×10 2Ωcm 2,the peak detectivities D

Several important factors, including Gaussian blurring, finite imaging region, and discrete computation, were considered to study the stability of moment invariants in practical application. The effect and rules of each factor to the moment invariants were investigated. The stability of moment invariant on the discrete data case was analyzed. The experiments show that it is possible to recognize the blurred and rotated images accurately by the suggested invariants. All these researches will provide important theoretical and experimental foundations for practical imaging recognition systems..

The response of photonic memory effect in Ⅰ-Ⅴ characteristics of a specially designed photonic memory cell was reported. When the cell is biased in a storage mode, the optical excitation with the photon’s energy larger than the energy gap gives rise to a step-like jump in the current. A set-up was used to measure the transient photocurrent at the biases where the step-like jump showed up. It is proved that the falling transient edge of the photocurrent, as the photoexcitation turns off, mainly maps the decaying of electrons and holes, which were previously stored in the cell during the illumination. Its time constant is a measure of photonic memory time..

An organizational coevolutionary classification algorithm was proposed for recognition based on 1-D images of radar targets. It is different from available EA-based techniques mainly in that its evolutionary operations are performed on the examples directly, but not on the rules. It uses a bottom-up search mechanism, that is, it makes groups of examples evolved, and then rules are extracted from these groups of examples at the end of evolution. This method can avoid generating meaningless rules during the evolutionary process. The proposed method needs not extract the features and reduces the dimensions for high dimensional data previously. It has not complicated computations, with high training and recognition speeds result. Experimental results on the data of 3 airplanes obtained in a microwave anechoic chamber show that the proposed method has a stable performance and outperforms the methods based on SVMs and wavelet kernels. Its predictive accuracy is higher than 96%. In addition, its ability in resisting the noise is also tested and a good result is obtained..

Sample-sample (s-s) and wavenumber-wavenumber (w-w) two-dimensional (2D) correlation analysis of Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra were employed to investigate the thermal dynamics of bovine serum albumin (BSA) in the aqueous solution. S-s 2D correlation spectra show the temperature profile of BSA, which indicates that the drastic variations in BSA structure starts at 66 ℃. However, w-w 2D correlation spectra reveal the variations in the structure of BSA and their orders of variation in the process of temperature elevation. The study demonstrates the key roles of 2D correlation spectra in the analysis of thermal dynamics of protein..

The temperature field of a semitransparent medium with gradient index was calculated. Two types of the refractive index distribution with black boundaries or specular semitransparent boundaries were discussed. One is linear refractive index distribution, and the other is sinusoidal refractive index distribution. We focused on their influence on the temperature field. When the medium has black boundaries, the inner total reflective happens; while the radiative energy transferred from optically denser medium to optically thinner medium, one boundary’s influence to the heat transfer will be enhanced. When the medium has specular semitransparent boundaries, other than the above effect, the heat transfer happened on the boundaries also affects the inner temperature field of the medium..

The shear strengths of In columns and that of In spheres are tested; the In spheres enjoy a shear strength 5.6MPa, which is 2.9 times higher than the shear strength 1.9MPa of the In Columns. In order to explain their properties difference, X ray is employed to analyze In bumps′ microstructure. Low shear strength of In columns can be attributed to an ideal (101) fiber texture, while the high shear strength of In spheres stems from the fact that the reflow processing has prevent the In spheres from obtaining the same texture model as that of the In columns..

To segment targets under complicated background from infrared images of natural scenes, an infrared image segmentation algorithm based on mathematical morphology was presented. First, the noise and small interferential regions are removed with morphological filters. Second, a multiscale algorithm for computing morphological gradient images is proposed and the gradients are derived. Third, the images are segmented by improved watersheds and the problem of over-segmentation regions is settled well by an effective region merging method. The experiment results show that the approach performs well in target segmentation in infrared images..
