In principle Q-switching techniques can be devided into two kinds: pulse reflective mode operation (PBM) and Transmission mode operation (PTM)), which govern the photon lifetime in a resonator. Here PTM Q-switching technique is taken as an example and the experimental results are given. A proposal is made for achieving a minimum laser pulse widthby the use of double-ended open resonator.
