Giant pulse laser energe is absorbed uniformly by the shell of glass pellet filled with D-T gas. D-T gas is taken as the perfect gas here. la our analysis the glass shell is presumed to be devided into several layers. After absorbing the laser energy, the outermost layer explod and transfer the energy to the inner layers. The D-T sphere is heated and compressed owing to the kinetic energy of plasmas produced by the inner glass layers and the effect of thermal conductivity. The detailed analytical and computational results are in good agreement with those obtained by one dimensional two temperature Lagrange mathematical mode..

It has been proved on the basis of the formula for coherent object images that when the far field distribution of the original optical beam will be reconstructed whoa the laser beam passes through a homogeneously distributed circular aperture grating. Thus the circular aperture grating can be used as the attenuator in laser beam measurement. Experiments showed that when circular aperture grating was used as the attenuator, its error was less than 1.7%。.

Focusing the TEA CO2 laser pulse onto a metal target in the vacuum cell, the backward jet of plasma produced by laser pulse can create electric pulse between target and cellwall. The effects of beam focusing and vacuum condition on the conversion are investigated experimentally. The maximum output voltage is 300 V when the peak power density of laser pulse is 1.4x109 W/cm2. Over-all efficiency is 0.01%. Using two separated collecting electrodes, the velocity of plasma expansion can be obtained..

The trace of visible scattering in air induced by a CW1.06m laser beam has been observed inside the cavity of a Nd: YAG laser. The scattering light has a continuous distribution covering the visible spectral range, and the threshold of laser beam power density required for this effect was found. When the period of laser action was reduced to the order of millisecond by using a mechanical rotating switch within the cavity, this effect could still be observed..

In this paper high-quality anti-reflective coatings of ZnSe-BaF2,ZnS-BaF2 and As2S3-BaF2 on Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) surface are described. They are characterized by an ability to withstand CW CO2 laser power up to 1000W/cm2 and a transmissivity of approximetly 98% at CO2 laser wavelength. The damage problem of the thin films on the sureface of windows, lenses etc. for a CW CO2 laser device has been solved and the output power of the device enhanced, thus creating condition for application and development of CO2 laser systems..
