The formation and quenching processes of triatomie excimers following short duration electron beam excitation of high pressure rare gas halide mixtures have been investigated. Formation of triatomie excimers have been shown to occur mainly as the result of intermolecular reactions involving diatomic excimers as precursors. The three-body formation constants and quenching rates for collisional deexeitation of Xe2Cl, Xe2Br and Xe2F by rare gas, buffer gas and halogen donors and lifetime of triatomie excimer are reported..

This paper discusses the CW laser oscillation process using the stationary state solutions of the optical Bloeh equations. The derived formulas on gain and saturation effect, dispersion and frequency pulling of the laser material agree with the results obtained by the third order approximation of the non-diagonal element of density matrix in Lamb’s semi-classical theory and this method simplifies the mathematical processes..

This paper reports the investigation on special noise in an intracavity He-Ne laser. It is induced by a spatial magnetic field which consists mainly of earth magnet. Based on the theory of Zeeman laser and dispersion character of laser medium, the production mechanism and the regularity of magnetic induced beat noise are explained. Finally some methods for eliminating this noise are suggested..

The resolution of the acousto-optic deflector is analyzed by means of modulation transfer functions. The relation between the modulation transfer functions of acousto-optic def lector and Gaussian pupil is established. The resolution can be increased by properly selecting the truncation ratios of acousto-optic media and Gaussian beam (nearly 1/e2 beam width)..

The end fire coupling between the single-mode optical fiber and the Ti-diffused LiNbO3 single-mode planar optical waveguide has been studied. Here we report our measurements of the field intensity distribution and the experimental results of coupling efficiencies under the influence of various alignment tolerances. Using a photoresist to produce a microlens directly at the end of a fiber. The Gaussian waist diameter of the fiber output is reduced and the coupling efficiency has been improved by 1.47 times, which is conformable with the theoretical values..

Study of the cause for light scattering and laser damage in fluorophosphate laser glasses
Zhu Dunshui, Xu Wenjuan, and Jiang Yasi
In fluorophosphate laser glasses light scattering and laser damage are caused mainly by solid inclusions which result from the liquid-phase separation and crystallization. Further decrease of damage threshold is considered to be caused by the precipitation of impurities such as Fe, Cu, Ni, Si etc.

We have studied the growth and the structure of HoP5O14 crystals. The crystal face and geometric forms have been analysed, the absorption, excitation fluorescence and infrared spectra have been investigated and the 5I7-6I8 transition of Ho8+ in HoP5O14 at 2 046μm have been determined for the first time.
