    Abstract

    By acousto-optie AM modulation, actively mode-locking experiment on argon ion laser have been performed. Ultra-short pulse trains have been observed with a measured pulse width of 800 ps and a repetition frequency of 103 MHz. The influences of modulation depth and tuning out have been measured. The experimental results and the thoretical calculations are in good agreement.
