    Abstract

The selective photothermolysis, induced by the interaction of pulsed laser and skin, has been widely used in laser medicine. The melanin content is mainly responsible for the surface temperature discrepancy in the individual skin irradiated by pulsed laser with the same parameters. The thermal responses of individual Asian skin melanin in vivo to 532 nm pulsed laser are experimentally studied.A method to ascertain the optical absorption coefficient of individual Asian skin epidermis is presented based on the pulsed photothermal radiometry, and the simulated and experimental surface temperatures of individual skin are compared. The results show that the simulated and experimental surface temperatures of individual skin are consistent, and the method presented is of significance for optimizing light treatment parameters of individual Asian skin lesion.
