    Abstract

The first Stokes line 289 nm is generated by deuterium (D2) stimulated Raman scattering pumped by fourth harmonic Nd:YAG laser. By changing D2 pressure and pump energy, the conditions for 289 nm output were optimuzed. Based on differential absorption principle, a laser radar has been developed for monitoring tropospheric ozone using Stokes output at 289 nm and XeCl laser output at 308 nm. The distribution profiles of tropospheric ozone and their temporal variation are reported in this paper.
