    Abstract

    The basic principle of photo-thermal optical beam deflection is described, A new method for measuring the characteristic parameters of focused laser beam and the focal length of the focusing lens by photothermal optical beam deflection method is introduced. The radius and position of waist spot of CO2 laser beam focused by a single Ge lens were measured experimentally, and the focal length of the Ge lens was determined. The result is in agreement with that obtained in practice.
