In this paper, aone-dimension free-space-mode expansion method is used for calculating the coupling-lossof a total-metal RF slab CO₂laser. The close relationship between waveguidecoupling-loss and the resonator mirrors' position and radius is discovered, and an optimalmethod to obtain minimum coupling-loss is presented.
