    Abstract

    It was analyzed that the principle and characteristics of a GaN-based Ultraviolet (UV) detector developed recently by Chinese, and that the principle and method of the information acquisition technology for the detector is achieved. It was described that the design process of portable UV camera with the GaN-based UV detector. The Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of the camera and the outdoor experiment were finished. Through the cooperation with the Marine-related institute, the portable camera was mounted on the research vessel and the UV image of the sea surface was successfully acquired. The results show that the image of the sea surface is clear and rich texture, which made a maiden attempt and explorations of UV remote sensing detections to the marine oil spill.
