    Abstract

    A realistic computer model was used to simulate the tassel effect on the thermal emission directionaly of corn canopies, which was further validated by ground measurement. It is found that thetassel contributes little (mostly<6%) on the total directional birghtness temperature. That means tassel can be omitted during modelling or inversion of the surface leaving thermal radiance.
