The function of IF filter in the FMCW millimeter wave radar system was discussed considering that parasitic AM was the main factor that affects the detecting range of FMCW millimeter wave radar. The dependence of the detecting range of the radar on the performance of the IF filter was also analyzed. The results show that the detecting range of the radar is increased after the IF filter is optimized with HP CAD.
