    Abstract

Flight attitude sets a fundamental limit on the image quality of the aerial camera. Both of the imaging resolution and overlap rate would be degraded when aircraft takes sharp turning. First, the effects of aircraft sharp turning on the imaging resolution and overlap rate was analyzed with the methods of formula inferring and coordinatetransformation. Then the smear model is proposed according to a panoramic aerial camera. Analyzing result indicates that the biggest smear approaches to 4 pixels in the forward motion direction when aircraft takes sharp turning, so it must be eliminated. While the smear just approaches to 1/8 pixels across the forward motion direction, and it could be neglected. The smear model was predigested according to the analyzing result, so it could provide academic basis for smear compensation. In order to reduce the effects of aircraft sharp turning on the imaging overlap rate, the method of adjusting exposure time according to aircraft turning radius and rotate rate was proposed. Those analyses establish an academic basis for panoramic aerial camera to gain high quality image when aircraft takes sharp turning.
