    Abstract

A novel nonlinear optical device has been constructed bassed on an optical beam erasing refractive index grating and two-beam coupling, The theoretical formula about the device has been built by using the coupling wave equation and band-transport model. An experimental demonstration has been done by using KNSBN single crystals and Ar ion laser. It is obviously shown experimentally and theoretically that the device possesses a threshold switching characteristic.
