    Abstract

    The SNR equation and detection probability of a direct detection laser radar are discussed. The software for modeling the signal of lidar echo is developed based on MonteCarlo method. The simulation results of a typical pulse lidar show that the horizontal detectable range reaches 5 km with the pulse energy of 1 mJ under the visibility of 5 km.
