Research on laser-plasma interaction in China in the recent ten years

Research on laser-plasma interaction in China was conducted in parallel with the high power laser technique. Since 1964, the high power Nd:glass laser system has been developed, the laser breakdown and laser-focusing in the plasma were observed by focusing a 1.06 μm laser beam in the atmosphere. In 1973, frozen deuterrium and LiD,CD2 plate targets were irradiated by a 1010W laser beam, and a neutron yield of 1 x 103/shot was obtained. In 1974, with a 1011 W laser beam shotting on CD2 plate targets, th3 anomalous laser absorption and hard X-ray emission from plasma were observed, neutron yield of more than 2×104/shot was obtained. From 1975-1980, the compression of glass microballoon tergets was observed by using the six-beam laser facility. Moreover many laser-plasma interaction experiments, such as second harmonic emission, X-ray line spectrum diagnostics, K-edge absorption measurements for electron temperatures, Faraday cup charge collectors for particle measurements were carried out..

Study of energy transfer and sensitization process of Ce3+ and Tb3+ (or Er3+, Tm3+) ions in phosphate glasses

In this paper the concentration quenching effects of Tb3+ and Ce3+ ions in phosphate glasses are reported. Using KrF laser (248 nm, 10ns) as excitation source, the fluorescence lifetimes of different concentration of Ce3+ or Tb3+ ions in the glasses have been measured. Laser multiphoton ionization of background gases in the vacuum chamber for laser produced plasma study

In this paper the experimental results of laser multiphoton ionization of background gases (mostly oil-vapor) in the vacuum chamber for laser produced plasma study are presented by using high power laser irradiation. Study of temperature matching in BNN crystals

Frequency doubling of light propagating along the main section in BNN crystals is analyzed with temperature and angle as independent variables. A flashlamp pumped wide-band tunable dye laser with a dispersive Brewster prism expander

Lasing characteristics of high quality Nd: YAG crystals grown by temperature gradient technique

A sealed-off nitrogen laser

Laser treatment of end-cleavage of high strength steel CCT samples

An improved laser feedback interferometer for measurement of vibration

Antireflective coating with high efficiency at 1.06 μm

It is shown that optical properties of the film composed of non-quarter wavelength stack is stabler than those of the film composed of quarter wavelength stack. Optical glass waveguides fabricated by Tl2SO4

The experimental results for optical glass waveguides fabricated by Tl ion exchange are reported. The optical properties of the waveguides are better than those of the waveguides fabricated by AgNO3. The optical loss is less and the index profile is of quasistep form. Dry seeds of cultivated soybean "Maneangjin" and "Fengshou 11" were treated with N2, Nd glass and He-Ne lasers.
