    Abstract

For a given resolution, single Brillouin scattering distributed optical-fiber sensor can only reach a definite sensing length, and in some applications, sensing and communication should be run in a single fiber. Wavelength division multiplexing and optical heterodyne detecting were used to series connect Brillouin scattering distributed optical-fiber sensors. Wavelength division multiplexing was adopted to isolate the sensing light and the communication light. The optical heterodyne detecting was used to vary the spectrum of sensing signal from the communication signal. The series connecting between two Brillouin scattering distributed optical-fiber sensors was achieved, the sensing length of single sensor was 25 km, and the sensing length of two series connecting sensors was 50 km. The experimental results show that the configuration is feasible.
