    Abstract

Based on the limb-scan technique, the spectrum and vertical-distribution characteristics of radiation in the mid-infrared band(2~5 μm) are examined by using the popular sophisticated moderate radiative transfer model MODTRAN 4, especially aiming at simulating the limb radiance profiles for different solar/detector locations and other atmospheric/meteorological environments. Analysis indicates good and meaningful results.
