    Abstract

Numerical computation is an important way to study weapon effects and damage assessments. Its function is mainly reflected in three aspects:guiding test designs, optimizing schemes, and expanding test results as a supplementary means of theoretical and experimental researches.According to the basic characteristics of foreign software and the development status of domestic software for numerical computation of weapon effects, the outstanding advantages of foreign commercial software are strong research and development ability, convenient operation, high calculation accuracy and reliability, rich pre-processing and post-processing software, and parallel computing. On the whole, the numerical computation research in China is still restricted by others.Meanwhile, the developments of basic data, solution scale, computing ability and secondary development are relatively lagging behind. In order to overcome the bottlenecks, the secondary development technique based on open source numerical calculation software package is an effective way to rapidly narrow the gap with the mature foreign software.
