    Abstract

A double Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) accelerator sensor was designed and fabricated. The theoretical analysis about working theory and basic characteristic has been carried out. The experimental measurement indicated that the vibration signals with high stability in the frequency range of 5~2 000 Hz were detected with the new double FBG accelerator sensor. The double FBG accelerator sensor not only may overcome the disadvantage of traditional cantilever FBG accelerator sensor that can hardly measure high-frequency vibration signals, but also has some advantages such as temporary self-compensatory, high resonance frequency, handle expediency, and so on. The work indicates that the double FBG accelerator sensor will have broad applications in measuring high-frequency vibration.
