    Abstract

Since high frame rate camera faces the challenge of high sensitivity and real-time transmission, EMCCD sensor is applied to improve its sensitivity, and fiber communication and USB technology are used to solve long-distance acquisition problem. This paper introduces the design of a high speed camera based on a new EMCCD image sensor CCD60. The logic control sequence of the CCD and the simultaneous processing control sequence of video signal are designed based on a CPLD. Firstly, DS0026 clock driver ICs are used for the standard clocks and discrete circuit is used for fast pulsed high-voltage (multiplication) clock. Then, the CCD video signal is digitized by a special circuit with CDS function. The high frame rate image data is transmitted to long-distance acquisition hardware through fiber cables. Finally, The USB port image data acquisition hardware is designed which allows the images from the EMCCD to be acquired in real time. The resolution of the system is 128×128. In low-light-level conditions, the system is capable of operating at 1000 frame/s.
