Chinese Optics Letters Workshop: Lithium Niobate Based Photonic Devices

Time: July 23 2021

Venue: Room Lyon, Sofitel Convention Center on Renmin Square Xi'an - Second Floor

Decription

Lithium niobate (LiNbO3 or LN) is a well-known versatile material for photonics owing to its exceptional electro-, nonlinear-, and acousto-optic properties, as well as its wide transparency window and relatively high refractive index. The development of LiNbO3-on-insulator (LNOI) thin-film technology in recent years has sparked significant interest in LiNbO3-based photonics, revolutionizing both the LiNbO3 industry and the modern integrated photonics as well as enabling entirely new devices with high performance and rapidly emerging applications with great potential. This workshop highlights recent research progress in the diverse aspects of LiNbO3-based photonics, including both basic passive components and various active devices based on electro-optics, all-optical nonlinearities, and acousto-optics. Invited speakers will share their insights on how to apply advanced nano-/micro-structuring and engineering techniques to design and fabricate LiNbO3-based photonic devices with reduced cost, complexity, power, and size, exploring their tremendous potential in a broad range of applications in communication, signal processing, and quantum information.
