Design and Experiment on a Triode Field Emission Display Prototype Based on Carbon Nanotubes
A large-area, full-colored field emission display panel prototype based upon carbonnanotube emitters is proposed. Its cathode and gate are on the same plane. The experiment shows that the emission efficiency of this display device can reach to 29.3%, which is well consistent with the results of the theoretic simulationA large-area, full-colored field emission display panel prototype based upon carbonnanotube emitters is proposed. The trench between the cathode and gate was etched by laser beam. Two-Dimensional Maximum Entropy Segmentation Based on Ant Colony Optimization

The 2-D maximum entropy method reflects information of the gray distribution and space-related information of the neighborhood. Therefore the segrnentation result is more accurate than the 1-D method. However its computational cost is an obstacle in application. Ant Colony Optimization is has been successfully applied The 2-D maximum entropy method reflects information of the gray distribution and space-related information of the neighborhood. Therefore the segrnentation result is more accurate than the 1-D method. However its computational cost is an obstacle in application. Ant Colony Optimization is has been successfully applied to some discrete problems, such as the traveling salesman problem. The ant colony optimization is introduced and the 2-D maximum entropy segmentation is presented based on ant colony optimization. Through the experiments of segmenting infrared images, it is about 60 times faster than the traditional exhaustive search algorithm. The proposed algorithm has been proved to be fast, simple and effective..

Cross-Phase Modulation Instability with High-Order Dispersion

Based on extended nonlinear Schr(o)dinger equation, the effects of third-order and fourth order dispersion on cross-phase modulation instability (XPM) are investigated, considering the fiber loss and high-order dispersion. The results show that the third-order dispersion does not affect modulation instability. But becaBased on extended nonlinear Schr(o)dinger equation, the effects of third-order and fourth order dispersion on cross-phase modulation instability (XPM) are investigated, considering the fiber loss and high-order dispersion. The results show that the third-order dispersion does not affect modulation instability. But because of fourth-order dispersion, XPM occurs at two spectrum regions in both the normal and the anomalous dispersion regimes under certain conditions. Gain spectra of the two regions of anomalous dispersion regime are larger than those of normal dispersion regime, and gain spectrum of the second region of anomalous dispersion regime is near zero than that of normal dispersion regime. The research also shows that fiber loss reduces the frequency range of the gain spectrum, and the frequency range becomes smaller with the increasing of the propagation distance..

Studies of Lasing Without or with Inversion in Open Four-Level Atomic System

The model of an open four-level atomic system is presented on the basis of the closed four-level atomic system. In the rotating wave, slowly varying envelope and mean field approximations, the density-matrix motion equations of the system are solved, and the linear analytical solution in the steady state is obtained. TThe model of an open four-level atomic system is presented on the basis of the closed four-level atomic system. The numerical calculation from the steady-state solution of the open system is presented. It is shown that a change from LWI to lasing with inversion action can occur due to the Rabi frequency of the driving field increasing; another change from lasing with inversion to LWI action can also occur as the exit rate or ratio of injection rates increases; high refractive index without absorption can be obtained; the curve of ρ33 -ρ11 (vs △2) presents the shape of the rectangle wave..
