    Abstract

A nonlinear optical loop mirror constructed from dispersion-decreasing fiber is proposed for simultaneous compression and pedestal suppression of higher-order soliton. Numerical simulation indicates that with the different soliton order, we can use the different fiber length for optimum compression. It is found that the higher of the soliton order, the shorter of the fiber length for optimal compression, with the greater peak intensity and the lower energy transmissivity. Our research results also show that the power-splitting ratio of the loop for optimal compression can be obtained, under this condition, the peak intensity and energy transmissivity of the pulse compressed is greater, and the pedestal is efficiently suppressed.
