    Abstract

A new scheme with the integration of optical and electrical QoS control for the next generation IP/WDM networks is developed. Integrating differentiated model based on generalized multi protocol label switching (GMPLS) technologies is proposed, and new service classification strategies and service mapping strategies are also provided. The proposed QoS control methods in this paper have the unique features of optical electrical integrating differentiated service model, intelligent control for multi granularities multi priorities applications, and the compliance to meet carrier class service level agreement, which capture the better tradeoff between the finer QoS granularity of IP layer and the coarse QoS granularity of optical layer to support multiple levels of service performance. Furthermore, the proposed scheme provides much lower complexity, better robustness and scalability, which seems to be preferred for QoS provisioning in the future multi service IP/WDM networks.
