Submitted manuscripts should substantially advance fundamental or applied optics science by meeting one or more of the following criteria:

• Open a new research area, or a new avenue within an established area.
• Solve, or make essential steps towards solving, a critical problem.
• Introduce techniques or methods with significant impact.
• Introduce novel engineering capabilities, computational concepts, techniques materials, or methodologies of exceptional importance to the topical area(s) of the journal;
• Be of intrinsic interest to Advanced Imaging's broad audience.
