On the Cover: Spin-decoupled metalens with intensity-tunable multiple focal points
The image on the cover for Photonics Research Volume 9, Issue 6, indicates that the control of spin electromagnetic (EM) waves is of great significance in optical communications. Although geometric metasurfaces have shown unprecedented capability to manipulate the wavefronts of spin EM waves, it is still challenging to independently manipulate each spin state and intensity distribution, which inevitably degrades metasurface-based devices for further applications. Here an approach to designing spin-decoupled metalenses based on pure geometric phase ia proposed and experimentally demonstrated.The image is based on original research by Bingshuang Yao et al. presented in their paper "Spin-decoupled metalens with intensity-tunable multiple focal points", Photonics Research 9 (6), 06001019(2021).
