    Abstract

    To form a new kind of Plasma Photonic Crystals (PPCs) filters, a plasma defect layer was filled in the PPCs. The effective refractive index can be changed by alternating the electrical parameters of the defect instead of changing the dimension of PPCs, which makes the resonant frequency in plasma defect layer offset. Then the filter frequency can be tuned. A Finite-difference Time-domain (FDTD) algorithm is applied to calculate the transmission spectrum of the plasma photonic crystals. The result show that the tunability of the PPCs filters can be achieved by changing the parameters of the plasma defect layer which changes the resonance frequency.
