Photonics Research, co-published by Chinese Laser Press and Optica Publishing Group, is sponsoring a conversation with Prof. John Bowers, University of California Santa Barbara, USA. Prof. Bowers is a world-leading researcher in the areas of silicon photonics, optoelectronics, energy efficiency and the development of novel low power optoelectronic devices for the next generation of optical networks. Join us for this webinar interview to learn about Prof. Bowers' fascinating career and his advice for young researchers. Prof. Lin Chang, Peking University, and former student of Prof. Bowers, will lead the interview. Photonics Research Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Lan Yang, Washington University—St. Louis, USA, will also provide a short introduction to the journal. Register for the Zoom webinar and submit your own question for Prof. Bowers.
University of California Santa Barbara, USA, Speaker
John Bowers holds the Fred Kavli Chair in Nanotechnology, and is the Director of the Institute for Energy Efficiency and a Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Materials at UCSB. Dr. Bowers received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University and worked for AT&T Bell Laboratories and Honeywell before joining UC Santa Barbara.
