According to the Boltzmann code for the free electrons and calculation of kinetic processes, the major chemical species and kinetic processes in XeCl discharge laser were chosen for a simple kinetic model. The relationship between the fluorescence intensity and total gas pressure was calculated at different gas mixture and discharge current densities by using this simple model. These results are in good agreement with the experimental results of the X-ray preionized avalanche self sustained discharge pumped XeCI laser. This model can also explain the laser output characteristics for different gas mixtures and total gas pressures..

A quantum theory for pulse-train from the mode-looked laser has been developed. In the theory the author uses "coherent superposition" model, i. e. the atomic states are coherent after absorbed photons from different modes of a mode-locked laser. So the final atomic state should be coherently added. The resolvent operator and projector operation are used to derive the operator U. Considering the phase relationship between the modes, the light field are described by multi-mode coherent state. This method can be used to describe the resonant multi-photon processes that the pulse train fxom the mode locked laser interacting with atoms..

In this paper the change of optical absorption edge with temperature in three types of near infrared filter glasses is presented. It is proposed that the temperature coeffcient of optical absorption edge γ = dvg/dT characterizes this behaviour. The temperature coefficient γ of given three type glasses are measured first and are -2.5cm-1·℃-1 (HWB-4), -2.7cm-1·℃-1(HWB-80) and -3.9 cm-1·℃-1 (HWB-90) respectively. The physical conception of temperature coefficient γ is roughly discussed..

Theoretical study on two-photon resonance amplifier
ZHU SHIYAO, and LI RUIYONG
The master equation of a three-level atomic system interacting with a two-mode field at two-photon resonance is given. The two-photon gain coefficient formula is deduced. The curve of gain coefficient versus detuning with respect to the intermediate level is discussed.

The testability of the optical guided-wave beam deflector has been demonstrated for the first time. For this, the Gaussian function model of the modulation characteristio curve is presented by where I is the sampling output light intensity, and Im is the maximum of I. D is the normalized coefficient of the sampling detection, and Ds is the contribution from the background light in D. V is the modulating voltage, and Vm is corresponding to I = Im and D = l. Vd is used to represent the width of the d V curve. Theoretical analysis using this model agrees with the measured results basically..

According to the phase-matched condition of the non-collinear harmonic wave generated effectively in a non-linear crystal, the analytic expressions for the harmonic ring produced by collinear and non-collinear fundamental waves have been obtained. The relations between the size of harmonic ring and the direction of fundamental wave can be deduced from these analytic expressions. The harmonic rings of RDP and LiNbO3 crystals have been observed experimentally. Experimental results are in agreement with this theory..

This paper describes a general ray tracing program. Both the program and the formula used in the program are given, the program traces only thirty-four light rays in four fields of view, it can calculate the spot diagrams of these four fields and the optical transfer functions of five focusing positions, four special frequencies and two azimuth space frequency distributions of the four fields of view. The program can evaluate the performance of an optical system accurately, it has traced fewer light rays and and obtain more useful informations..

In this paper, the experimental arrangment for measuring laser-plasma density profile is presented. It consists of two parts: a laser system and a interferometer. The two arms of the interferometer can keep equal optical pathes automatically, when time resolving power of a interference diagnosis is demanded to be very high, it is very convenient to use this arrangment instead of precise and complicated adjustment..

The fluorescence characteristics of the para-terphenyl vapour have been studied systematically. Its absorption, fluorescence and spectra have been measured. The fluorescence quantum yield is dependent on temperature, concentration and especially exciting wavelength. We explain the unusual fluorescence characteristics of organic scintillator represented by para-terphenyl in terms of "The effect of de-cage and inner-rotation". The first order of the Stoke s line of stimulated Raman scattering of KrF laser in hydrogen gas and the second order of the Stoke's line in methane have been used to pump para-terphonyl vapoux. No laser output was observed..
