The theoretical analysis and experimental results of real time edge enhanced optical correlation pattern recognition via a Ce∶KNSBN photorefractive crystal in the coherent matched filter system are given. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the auto correlation peak is decreased 75%. The intensity ratio of the auto correlation peak and the cross correlation peak increases nearly one time by the edge enhancement operation. The lobe and intensity of the auto correlation peak are obviously depressed. The enhancements of signal to noise ratio and discrimination capability of the system are achieved obviously..

The influence of spatial relative positions between input device (spatial light modulator) and output device (charge coupled device) on the matching result of volume holographic data storage system (VHDSS) is analyzed, and the principle for testing the sensitivities of adjustors for signal input and output elements is summarized. Accordingly, the one to one pixel matching between I/O arrays with chrome on glass transmission masks is realized. The effects of input device fill factor (F f) and input pattern combinations on readout images are investigated. All these work present theoretical and experimental bases for realizing record and retrieval of high capacity, low bit error rate (BER) data pages in VHDSS..

The experimental results of high order harmonic generation in diatomic molecular N 2 are presented. The effects of different gas density, different laser energy and different laser polarization on harmonic emission and harmonic order are mainly studied in the experiment. At the same time, the results are analyzed theoretically. It is indicated that the confirmation of the optimal gas density and the incident laser energy are needed in order to get the stronger harmonic emission and to avoid the phase mismatch caused by density increasing of the free electrons..
